Chapter 5

Did my fix work, or was it a lucky week?

Tôi sửa đúng chỗ, hay chỉ gặp một tuần may mắn?

The chapter's question

How do I know a change in my salon really filled more chairs and brought more clients back, rather than just coinciding with the season?

Big idea

Every fix in this book is an experiment. Without setting a baseline first and reading the result afterwards, you cannot tell whether the number moved because of what you did or because of the season.

In this chapter

  1. Part 5.1

    One change at a time

If I can fix only one thing in the next four weeks, which do I pick, and on what number?

  2. Part 5.2

    Record the baseline before changing

What was the number in the four weeks before the change, and within what range does it swing on its own?

  3. Part 5.3

    Reading results without fooling yourself

After four weeks, how far must the number move for me to trust the change worked, and how far is just noise?

  4. Part 5.4

    When to add a chair

What chair utilisation and return rate, held for how long, should I see before I consider adding a chair?
