The Second Call

Sales breaks in the middle: after the first meeting, before the close. Five chapters on that stretch.

Sound familiar?

  • The first call goes well and the second never happens.
  • Ends meetings with 'I'll send more information' and no agreed date.
  • Can't say what share of first calls lead to a next step.
  • Follows up with vague check-in messages that give the buyer no reason to reply.

After reading, you can

Giúp người bán biến cuộc gọi đầu tiên thành cuộc gọi thứ hai, chỗ phần lớn cơ hội rơi mất mà không ai đếm.

Each chapter answers one question

  1. Chapter 1: Am I selling to the decider, or the easiest contact?

In this deal, who signs, and have I spoken with them?

Talking to people who do not decide is the most polite way to waste time.

  2. Chapter 2: Do they want my product, or an escape from pain?

If the customer buys nothing at all, what happens to them over the next six months?

Buyers pay for their problem, not for your features.

  3. Chapter 3: Is rejection where I learn the most?

What is the latest rejection I received telling me about which stage of my process?

Early objections are data; late objections are usually a sign we ignored that data.

  4. Chapter 4: Is my list a pipeline, or a wish list?

Does every opportunity on my list have a next step and a specific date?

An opportunity without a next step and a specific date is not an opportunity.

  5. Chapter 5: Is closing the deal really the end of selling?

Is the customer who just signed willing to refer me to others, and why?

Good deals create the next deal; forced deals do not.
